The Kansas City Knights are a defunct professional basketball team that played in the American Basketball Association. The team was created during the league's inaugural season (2000-2001). The Knights folded in the 2005-2006 season. The franchise is based in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Knights played their home games at the Kemper Arena.

History[]
The Kansas City Knights were a charter franchise of the ABA when it began in in the 2000. The Knights quickly became one of the ABA's best teams, winning one championship in their second season and making perennial play off appearances since their inception.
The Knights folded in the 2005-2006 season and since then many ABA franchises have been placed in the Kansas City area, although none have been as successful as the Kansas City Knights.
The Knights have been famous for its roster featuring former/undrafted NBA, international, and local college players.
On July 17, 2012, former Knights owner Jim Clark was sentenced to four years in prison for tax evasion and bank fraud.
Season-by-Season Record[]
2000-2001[]
In their first season the Kansas City Knights went 24-17 but were defeated in the league semifinals by the Los Angeles Stars .
2001-2002[]
In their second season the Knights posted a league-best 35-5 record and won their first title after beating the Southern California Surf in the ABA finals.
2002-2003[]
The ABA would postpone operations for the 2002-2003 season for "reorganization"
2003-2004[]
In their third full season the Knights went 23-9 and made it to the ABA finals for the second time before being defeated by the Long Beach Jam.
2004-2005[]
In their last season the Knights went 17-8 and made it to the semifinals before being eliminated by the Mississippi Stingers.
