American Basketball Association Wiki

Richard P. Tinkham Jr. is the co-founder and director of the American Basketball Association. As such, he was also the co-founder of the original ABA that operated from 1967-1976 and was also the owner of the Indiana Pacers franchise while they were in the ABA.

Personal Life[]

Richard Tinkham is a native of Hammond, Indiana. He graduated from DePauw University and since then worked in serveral law firms until he left his Indiana law firm in 1975. Afterwards he co-chaired the ABA-NBA merger that occurred in 1976. He is married to Wynn Tinkham.

Co-founding the new American Basketball Association[]

In 1999, Tinkham would co-found the American Basketball Association with Joseph F. Newman and would be it's director, soon taking the role of secretary in the 2003-2004 season.
